## Synopsis

Raël: The Alien Prophet (2024) is a French documentary miniseries created for Netflix, running four episodes of roughly 46 minutes each. Rather than following a scripted protagonist, the series is built around its central figure Raël, who appears as himself alongside a parade of his followers and a set of critics who speak directly to camera. The engine is the question of how a religion founded on claims of UFO contact gathered devotees and grew into a controversial cult, and each episode pulls the threads of that story through testimony, interviews and archive footage. The format is a single continuous investigation across one season, moving from the movement's origins to its present-day controversies without a narrator steering the verdict. Its tone is measured and probing, more uneasy than sensational, with the tension arising from the gap between believers' sincerity and critics' alarm. Viewers drawn to the interview-driven cult portraits of Wild Wild Country and Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief will find the same appetite for charismatic leaders, belief systems and the people who stake their lives on them. It suits viewers who like true stories about faith, persuasion and modern prophets, and who want a sober, documentary look at a movement that is easy to dismiss and hard to forget.
