## Synopsis

NCIS: Origins (2024-present) is a US CBS procedural drama series created by Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North, a prequel to the long-running NCIS. Austin Stowell plays a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a newly minted special agent who joins the fledgling NCIS office at Camp Pendleton in California in 1991. Kyle Schmid plays NCIS legend Mike Franks, the gruff veteran who leads the gritty, ragtag team Gibbs must earn his place on. Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie and Diany Rodriguez round out the principal team, while Mark Harmon appears as an older Gibbs. The engine of the show is a young investigator learning his craft case by case, balancing military protocol against the street-level instincts that will define him. Each episode is built around a self-contained naval investigation, with the team's loyalties and personal rivalries quietly building across a continuing arc. Set in early 1990s Southern California, the series is a nostalgic, grounded blend of crime and character drama with a warm but gritty tone. Its mentor relationships and period detail will appeal to viewers who enjoy the original NCIS and fans of the earlier JAG and procedural traditions seeking a throwback to the era.
