## Synopsis

Queen Mantis (2025) is a South Korean crime thriller miniseries created by Byun Young-joo for SBS, running eight hour-long episodes. Police officer Cha Su-yeol (Jang Dong-yoon) has long despised his mother Jeong Yi-shin (Go Hyun-jung), the notorious Mantis serial killer. When a copycat killer begins imitating her crimes, he must reluctantly turn to her for help, and the two are drawn into a tense, uneasy partnership. Detective Joong-ho (Cho Seong-ha) and Na-hee (EL) move through the investigation alongside him, while the case forces old wounds back to the surface. The engine of the show is the push and pull between a son who wants nothing to do with his mother and the investigative insight only she can offer, with each episode unpacking another layer of the killings and the family history behind them. Presented as a limited series with a single season, it blends procedural detective work with prison-set confrontations and psychological unease. The mood is grim, claustrophobic and morally uncomfortable, grounded in contemporary Seoul. Fans of Dexter, Hannibal and Mouse will find resonance in its dark, character-driven take on the serial killer story.
