## Synopsis

Vampire Knight (2008) is a Japanese anime series created by Matsuri Hino and produced by Studio Deen for TV Tokyo, adapted from her shoujo manga. Set at Cross Academy, a boarding school split between a human day class and a secretive night class of vampires, the story follows disciplinary committee member Yuki Cross (Yui Horie) and her fellow guardian Kaname Kuran (Daisuke Kishio), the poised leader of the night students whose hidden nature she is charged with keeping from the human students. The engine of the series is a precarious peace: each episode turns on rule-breaking students, sudden threats to the truce, and the question of what Yuki will risk to protect the boundary between the two communities. Across two seasons of thirteen episodes each, the show moves from case-driven campus skirmishes into a more serialized, emotionally charged arc about loyalty, longing, and the cost of blood. Its tone is romantic and melancholic, with gothic atmosphere, intense moments and a steady undercurrent of dread. Fans of Fruits Basket, Rosario + Vampire and Twilight will find resonance in its blend of forbidden romance, supernatural school life and an outsider caught between dangerous immortal worlds.
