## Synopsis

Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (2025) is a British five-episode limited series created by David Harrower for Sky Atlantic, a prestige drama dramatizing real events. Colin Firth plays Dr Jim Swire, a grieving father whose daughter dies when Pan Am Flight 103 explodes over a small Scottish town in December 1988. Catherine McCormack plays his wife Jane, and Sam Troughton plays Murray Guthrie, while Ardalan Esmaili appears as Abdelbaset Al Megrahi. The engine of the story is Swire's relentless journey across continents and political divides, where each step costs him stability, family and health as he confronts official accounts that keep shifting. The miniseries unfolds as a sober, emotionally raw inquiry into grief and institutional betrayal, with a measured, serious register rather than spectacle. Its tone is harrowing and contemplative, close in spirit to Chernobyl and Unbelievable, where ordinary people confront powerful systems. Viewers drawn to true events dramas and slow-burning justice stories will find this a focused, adult portrait of loss and the cost of seeking the truth.
