## Synopsis

Anthracite (2024) is a French crime mystery limited series created by Fanny Robert for Netflix. When a reporter goes missing, his daughter Ida Heilman (Noémie Schmidt), a web sleuth who pieces together clues from online traces, is drawn into the case and travels to a small mountain town where a sect, a web of secrecy and unexplained deaths have long been buried. Her search for her father is complicated by the town's guarded residents and by an old case that she is forced to reopen. Hatik plays Jaro Gatsi, and Kad Merad appears as Claude Chevallier, both figures whose connections to the past complicate her inquiries. The six-episode run is a single continuing story rather than a case of the week, with each episode peeling back another layer of the mystery. The tone is tense, cold and unsettling, with an atmosphere of alpine isolation and quiet dread. Fans of Twin Peaks, The Killing and Broadchurch will find resonance in its slow burn secrets and its portrait of a community that closes ranks around the truth. Because it is a limited series, the story runs its full course in a compact, focused arc.
