## Synopsis

I Am Weasel (1997-1999) is an American animated comedy created by David Feiss for Cartoon Network. Its five seasons and seventy-nine short episodes, each about seven minutes long, follow the self-proclaimed noble, generous and intelligent I.M. Weasel, voiced by Michael Dorn, as he competes once again with his arch-enemy, the bumbling and utterly talentless I.R. Baboon, voiced by Charlie Adler. The engine of the show is the endless rivalry between them: Weasel keeps trying to prove he is good at everything while Baboon's incompetence repeatedly undermines the contest and turns each attempt into chaos. Episodes are self-contained gag-driven vignettes rather than a continuing story, so they can be watched in any order. The Hanna-Barbera production approach gives the show a brisk, surreal, deadpan rhythm, with absurdist slapstick and a sardonic edge that keeps the cartoon sharp without being cruel. Its tone is irreverent and breezy, playful in its mockery of vanity and failure. Fans of Ren & Stimpy, Invader Zim and Dexter's Laboratory will find resonance in its anarchic cartoon energy and its mismatched-rival humor.
