## Synopsis

The Munsters (1964-1966) is a classic American family sitcom created by Chris Hayward, Bob Mosher and Allan Burns for CBS. Fred Gwynne plays Herman Munster, a gentle, lumbering monster who is the head of a cheerful household that also includes Yvonne De Carlo as his wife Lily, Butch Patrick as their son Eddie, and Al Lewis as the lovable Grandpa. The engine of each episode is simple: the family tries to live a normal domestic life in their gothic house, and their monstrous nature leads to misunderstandings with neighbors, visitors and the outside world. Stories are self-contained, episodic case-of-the-week misadventures across two seasons and seventy episodes, with a sweet and cozy rhythm. Set in 1960s suburban America, the series blends the look of classic monster movies with the warmth of mid-century television. Its tone is breezy, wholesome and affectionate, with the humor coming from the family's sincere bewilderment at how ordinary people react to them. Fans of The Addams Family, Bewitched and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet will find similar gentle, family-centered comedy with a supernatural twist.
