## Synopsis

The Unusuals (2009) is an American network police dramedy created by Noah Hawley for ABC. Across a single ten-episode season, it follows a squad of New York City police detectives, led by Detective Casey Shraeger (Amber Tamblyn) and Detective Jason Walsh (Jeremy Renner), with Detective Leo Banks (Harold Perrineau), Detective Eric Delahoy (Adam Goldberg) and Sergeant Harvey Brown (Terry Kinney) rounding out the core team. The engine of the show is the daily grind of investigating violent crimes in the city, where each case carries real human stakes while the squad's personal rivalries, romances and bad habits keep the mood unpredictable. Episodes stay mostly self-contained, shifting between sober interviews and sharp, absurd office banter. Fans of M*A*S*H, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide: Life on the Street will find resonance in its blend of procedural grit and workplace comedy. The tone is wry and irreverent, with melancholy undercurrents, and the series is set in contemporary New York. Its limited run ended on a cliffhanger after cancellation, so the story never reached a full resolution.
