## Synopsis

Ellis (2024-present) is a British police procedural series created by Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre and Paul Logue, produced by Company Pictures and distributed through Acorn TV in the United Kingdom. Sharon D. Clarke plays DCI Ellis, a tenacious detective who is parachuted into struggling investigations alongside her partner DS Harper, played by Andrew Gower. Alison Harding appears as ACC Leighton, the senior officer overseeing the assignments. Each case takes place at a different police station, so the engine of every episode is the same: Ellis must immerse herself in an unfamiliar investigation while earning the wary cooperation of local officers who resent outside intervention. The series runs for two seasons across seven feature-length episodes of roughly ninety minutes each, with a case-by-case structure rather than one continuing storyline. Its tone is serious and grounded, with a moody, procedural register that foregrounds institutional friction, procedural detail and the personal cost of arriving as an outsider. Fans of Vera, Line of Duty and Happy Valley will find resonance in its British policing texture and its focus on a determined investigator navigating hostile terrain.
