## Synopsis

Boys Over Flowers (2005-2007) is a Japanese television romantic comedy drama series created for TBS, adapted from the shoujo manga tradition. Set at an elite high school for the super-wealthy, it follows Tsukushi Makino (Mao Inoue), a poor, determined girl who refuses to be cowed by the school's privileged students. Her central antagonist and eventual suitor is the rough, fearless Tsukasa Domyoji (Jun Matsumoto), leader of the F4 gang of rich boys who rule the campus. Other principal figures include Rui Hanazawa (Shun Oguri) and Sojiro Nishikado (Shota Matsuda), two members of the F4 whose loyalties and rivalries add layers to the group. The engine of the series is a tug of war between Tsukushi's stubborn dignity and Tsukasa's clumsy, sometimes cruel attempts to win her, with each episode built from school scrapes, bullying clashes, and small wins against the elite social order. Across two seasons totaling twenty episodes, the story unfolds as one continuing romance rather than standalone cases. The setting is a contemporary Tokyo high school where money dictates status. The tone is breezy, sincere and bittersweet, with a warm, comic edge and moments of genuine tenderness. Fans of Hana Yori Dango, Kimi ni Todoke and Meteor Garden will find resonance in its blend of teen romance, class contrast and charming rivals.
