## Synopsis

10 Things I Hate About You (2009-2010) is an American teen comedy series created for ABC Family, a television take on the 1999 film and its Shakespearean roots. Outspoken Kat Stratford (Lindsey Shaw) and her super sweet sister Bianca Stratford (Meaghan Jette Martin) are new students at a California high school, with little in common beyond their overprotective father, Dr. Walter Stratford (Larry Miller). Kat's stubborn independence clashes with Bianca's eagerness to fit in, and the sisters' romantic lives become tangled with rival suitors such as Patrick Verona (Ethan Peck) and Joey Donner (Chris Zylka). Each episode is a self-contained high school comedy built around dating schemes, social cliques and family friction, gathered into a single twenty-episode season. The mood is witty, breezy and warm, with sharp sparring dialogue and a steady current of teenage longing. Fans of Gilmore Girls, Freaks and Geeks and the original film will find the same mix of sibling bickering, first crushes and a stubborn belief in being yourself. It suits viewers who want light, romantic teen comedy with a clever edge and a warm center.
