## Synopsis

The Tyrant (2024) is a South Korean action thriller miniseries created by Park Hoon-jung for Disney+. Director Choe (Kim Seon-ho) tries to hide a secret biological sample from the agents closing in, while Agent Paul (Kim Kang-woo) searches for it and Lim Sang (Cha Seung-won) and Chae Jagyeong (Jo Yoon-soo) are drawn into the same dangerous place. The engine is a chase: a project that was supposed to be scrapped is exposed to the United States, and a delivery accident turns the sample into a prize everyone wants. The story unfolds across four long episodes built around set pieces, covert maneuvers and shifting loyalties inside Korean and American intelligence circles. Viewers come for the tense, propulsive action and gritty production values, though the tangled plotting can feel scattered. Its mood is cold, paranoid and sharply violent, with the atmosphere of a black ops story. Fans of The Night Manager and Squid Game will find a similar appetite for conspiracy, betrayal and high-stakes pursuit in a Korean setting. The miniseries is a single, self-contained run that rewards attention and a tolerance for dense, sometimes bewildering narrative turns.
