## Synopsis

Flight 29 Down (2005-2007) is an American children's survival adventure series created by Stan Rogow and D.J. MacHale and broadcast on Discovery Kids. Its protagonists are a group of teenagers whose plane goes down, leaving them stranded on a tropical island in the Pacific. The principal characters include Lex Marin (Allen Alvarado), Daley Marin (Hallee Hirsh), Nathan McHugh (Corbin Bleu) and Melissa Wu (Kristy Wu), and the cast works as an ensemble of young castaways. The engine of the show is practical: the group must find food, shelter and safe routes through an unfamiliar environment, using intelligence, wit and instinct for each new challenge, while also learning to get along with one another under pressure. Each episode turns on a concrete obstacle in the wild, and the overall run is a two-season serialized adventure of twenty-six episodes in total, with a continuing story that carries the castaways forward. Its eco adventure framing gives the tropical setting a sense of wonder and respect for nature. The tone is hopeful, earnest and gentle, with plenty of teamwork and young friendship. Fans of Lost, Survivors and Swiss Family Robinson will find resonance in its castaway premise and its emphasis on resourcefulness and cooperation.
