## Synopsis

Teacup is an American science fiction horror series created by Ian McCulloch for Peacock. Adapted from a novel written for adults, its eight-episode season follows the Chenoweth family and their neighbors, the Shanleys, after a mysterious event traps a group of people on a rural Georgia farm. Maggie Chenoweth and James Chenoweth lead the household, while Ruben Shanley and Ellen Chenoweth sit at the center of the tension as the group must unite against an unknown and deadly force. The engine of the story is the slow accumulation of dread, as each episode strips away a little more certainty about who can be trusted and what is happening beyond the fences. Young Arlo Chenoweth becomes central to uncovering the truth, giving the mystery a childlike, persistent curiosity. The story is a single self-contained arc rather than a case-of-the-week format, with the feel of a cerebral alien invasion tale laced with unsettling body horror. The tone is claustrophobic, eerie and paranoid, and the grounded rural American setting heightens the sense of isolation. Fans of From, Under the Dome and Lost will find resonance in its blend of hidden threat, small community survival and slow-burning mystery.
