## Synopsis

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox (2025) is an American limited series created by K.J. Steinberg for Hulu, a true crime dramatization running eight episodes. Grace Van Patten plays Amanda Knox, a study abroad student who arrives in Italy and is wrongfully imprisoned for murder weeks later. Sharon Horgan plays Edda Mellas, her mother, who refuses to let the case fade, while Francesco Acquaroli plays prosecutor Giuliano Mignini and Giuseppe De Domenico plays Raffaele Sollecito. The engine of the story is Knox's relentless fight to prove her innocence and reclaim her freedom, pressed against the weight of institutions and public opinion that settle on a verdict before the facts do. Episodes move between the courtroom, the cramped prison, and the family's anxious phone calls and news coverage, building a picture of how a narrative takes hold. The mood is tense, sober and heavy with injustice, with a steady dread about how little control the accused has over her own story. Adapted from a book and based on a real case, the series is a serious, grounded drama. Fans of Making a Murderer and The Staircase will find resonance in its procedural scrutiny of a justice system and its interest in how the public decides who is guilty.
