## Synopsis

Pepper Chocolate (2003-2004) is a Brazilian telenovela created by Walcyr Carrasco for TV Globo. Ana Francisca (Mariana Ximenes) is a poor, mocked young woman who, after being humiliated by her entire town, reinvents herself as a stylish, wealthy woman determined to take revenge. Her enduring love for Danilo Rodrigues Albuquerque (Murilo Benício) survives years of distance and the twists of fate, but their bond is threatened by Olga Gonçalves Lima (Priscila Fantin), a snobbish rival who will do anything to win him away. The engine of the series is the tension between Ana Francisca's hunger for payback and her stubborn romantic loyalty, played out through class clashes, schemes, reversals and family rivalries. Across a single season of 209 episodes, the story unfolds as one continuing serialized arc with a long, unhurried rhythm typical of Brazilian soap opera. Set in contemporary Brazil, the series mixes melodrama with light comic irony, giving it a glossy, theatrical atmosphere. Its sentimental, campy register and romantic-comedy warmth recall fans of A Usurpadora and Avenida Brasil, who will find resonance in its makeover fantasy, rivalry and heartfelt devotion.
