## Synopsis

Néro the Assassin (2025) is a French historical action drama series created by Allan Mauduit, Jean-Patrick Benes and Martin Douaire for Netflix. Pio Marmaï plays the title assassin Nero, a ruthless killer who goes on the run with his estranged daughter Perla, played by Lili-Rose Carlier Taboury, while deadly enemies close in around them. Olivier Gourmet, Alice Isaaz and Louis-Do de Lencquesaing round out the principal cast in a story built around pursuit, shifting alliances and the danger of a father trying to protect a child he barely knows. The series runs for a single eight-episode season of roughly an hour per episode, told as one continuing chase rather than standalone cases. Set in France in 1504, it moves through a harsh, violent world of intrigue and dark medieval landscapes. Its tone is gritty and brooding, with action sequences grounded in brutal physical danger and a melancholic undercurrent of a fractured family. Fans of Vikings, The Last Kingdom and Game of Thrones will find a similar appetite for period bloodshed and morally grey power struggles, though the series' reception has been mixed.
