## Synopsis

The Winning Try (2025) is a South Korean sports drama miniseries broadcast on SBS, a single season of twelve roughly seventy-minute episodes. Yoon Kye-sang plays Joo Ga-ram, a disgraced former rugby star who returns to coach a struggling high school rugby team, and Im Se-mi plays Bae Yi-ji, the ex-girlfriend he reunites with as he reenters school life. Kim Yo-han plays Yoon Seong-joon, and Kil Hae-yeon plays Kang Jung-hyo, while Kim Min-sang and Jang Hyuk-jin fill out the supporting cast around the team. The engine of the story is a coach's attempt to rebuild a team that has lost its footing, pushing practices, rivalries and off-field pressures against a deadline set by the season itself. Its determined captain becomes the emotional center as the squad fights its way toward a comeback. The show is a single continuing arc rather than a case of the week, with each episode advancing the team's climb and the coach's own reckoning. Set in present-day South Korean schools, it moves between the grind of training fields, classrooms and quiet personal moments. Its tone blends warm humor with earnest, hopeful sincerity and a touch of wistful regret. Viewers who enjoyed Friday Night Lights for its underdog sports heart, or Haikyu!! for its youthful team spirit, will find familiar resonance here.
