## Synopsis

Kabul (2025) is a French national-television war drama miniseries created by Thomas Finkielkraut and Olivier Demangel for France 2. Set in August 2021 as the Taliban close in on the Afghan capital, it follows a team of French, Italian, German and American diplomats and police, led by Gilles (Jonathan Zaccai), who must improvise the evacuation of hundreds of Afghans and refugees toward the airport. Alongside him, Baqir (Vassilis Kukalawi), Zahara (Darina Al Joundi), Fazal (Shervin Alenabi) and Amina (Hannah Abdoh) carry the story from the Afghan side, where ordinary people face a stark choice between submission and flight. The engine is logistics under pressure: plans are overrun within a day, gates are jammed with crowds, and every decision carries a human cost. Told in six hour-long episodes that move between embassy offices, airport checkpoints and streets in full chaos, the series builds a tense, claustrophobic, sober tone with a documentary-like urgency. Viewers who appreciate the political weight of Homeland or the ground-level chaos of Black Hawk Down, and the human scale of Hotel Rwanda, will find much to hold onto.
