## Synopsis

Last Samurai Standing (2025) is a Japanese period action thriller series created for Netflix, adapted from a novel and produced with Office Shirous. Junichi Okada plays Shujiro Saga, once known as an undefeated samurai, who volunteers for a brutal survival game in early Meiji era Japan in order to protect his family and the villagers he cares for. Around him move principal figures played by Yumia Fujisaki as Futaba Katsuki, Kaya Kiyohara as Iroha Kinugasa, and Masahiro Higashide as Kyojin Tsuge, each drawn into the contest's shifting alliances and hunts. The engine of the series is a desperate wager: Shujiro must survive a field of rival fighters while the stakes of his family's safety pull him back toward the violence he once renounced. Each episode is built around duels, pursuits and uneasy truces, all set against the transforming landscape of a nation leaving the samurai age behind. The single season of six episodes is a compact, self-contained run with serialized momentum. The tone is tense, grim and melancholic, with a sense of honor fraying under pressure. Fans of Battle Royale, Lone Wolf and Cub and Shogun will find resonance in its blend of samurai tradition, lethal competition and bleak personal reckoning.
