## Synopsis

Geek Girl (2024-present) is a British teen comedy-drama series created by Holly Smale and Jessica Ruston for Netflix, adapted from Smale's novel. Emily Carey plays Harriet Manners, an awkward teenager who has spent her life trying to blend into the background until a top London model agent scouts her and pulls her into the glossy, cutthroat world of modelling. Tim Downie plays her father Richard Manners, and Sarah Parish plays agency boss Jude Paignton, with Jemima Rooper as Annabel Manners rounding out the family dynamics. The engine of the show is Harriet's clumsy, earnest attempts to navigate photo shoots, runway castings, and rival models while keeping her ordinary home life intact. Each episode leans on mishaps, friendships, and the pressure of a industry that prizes appearance above all else, giving the series a bright, warm rhythm. The show runs for two seasons across twelve half-hour episodes, a serialized but gentle coming of age story rather than a case of the week. Its setting is contemporary London, where fashion glamour sits against the everyday comedy of family life. Tone is sweet, breezy, and affirming, with a theme of learning to be seen on your own terms. Fans of Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl and Sabrina the Teenage Witch will find familiar pleasures here in its mix of fish out of water humour and self discovery.
