## Synopsis

Legend of Zang Hai (2025) is a Chinese historical costume drama series created by Kennedy Xu and broadcast on CCTV-8 and Youku. Xiao Zhan plays Zang Hai, the son of an imperial astronomer, who spends a decade honing his skills in seclusion before assuming a new name and entering the capital. Zhang Jingyi plays Xiang Antu and Zhou Qi plays Zhuang Zhixing, both entangled in the shifting loyalties of the court, while Michelle Chen plays Zhao Shangxian and Zhang Guoqiang plays the Emperor. The engine of the story is patient, methodical revenge: Zang Hai must uncover the truth about his family's destruction while staying hidden among people who may recognize him, and each episode unfolds as a layer of investigation peeling back another political conspiracy. The single season runs forty episodes, giving the intrigue room to build through rival factions, shadowy alliances, and careful reversals. Set in an imperial Chinese dynasty with palace halls, scholarly observatories, and bustling capital streets, the series carries a sober, contemplative tone shaped by grief and justice. Fans of The Story of Minglan, Nirvana in Fire and The Untamed will find resonance in its blend of costume spectacle, court politics, and a lone avenger seeking restoration.
