## Synopsis

The White Olive Tree (2025) is a Chinese romance drama created for iQiyi, adapted from a novel and running a single season of 38 forty-five-minute episodes. Journalist Song Ran (Liang Jie), a reporter for a Liangcheng satellite station, meets explosive engineer Li Zan (Chen Zheyuan), a Chinese volunteer working in the turbulent East Country. When a sudden danger brings them together, their bond grows through repeated encounters as each recognises the other's courage, justice and kindness. A bombing attack shatters the budding relationship, and both return to China changed and out of touch. Their paths cross again by chance, and the series follows the slow, careful work of rebuilding their lives and their trust. Supporting characters including Benjamin (Wang Tianchen), Shen Bei (Zheng Yingchen) and Luo Zhan (Ding Ye) add friendship, loyalty and professional stakes around the couple. The romance is steeped in military backdrop and lingering war trauma, giving the tone a wistful, earnest and sometimes harrowing register. Viewers who enjoy wartime love stories and emotionally patient romances in the vein of Tomorrow Continues will find resonance here.
