## Synopsis

Jeremiah (2002-2004) is a Canadian-American science fiction drama series created by J. Michael Straczynski for Showtime. Luke Perry plays the title character, a survivor in a post-apocalyptic future, alongside Malcolm-Jamal Warner as his companion Kurdy, with Peter Stebbings as Markus Alexander, Sean Astin as Mister Smith, and Joanne Kelly as Liberty Kaufman. The engine of the series is survival in a world where a deadly virus has wiped out most of the adult population, and the young people who remain must find food, shelter and allies while confronting groups who want to control what is left. Each season plays out as one continuing story across two seasons and thirty-five episodes, with action set pieces and gradual revelations about the plague. The setting is a ravaged near future whose ruined cities and scattered settlements feel bleak yet hopeful. The tone mixes action, sincere drama and a wistful sense of loss, with a dystopian edge. Fans of The Walking Dead, Revolution and Surface will find resonance in its post-apocalyptic survival and its serialized quest across a fractured society.
