## Synopsis

The Girlfriend (2025) is a British American coproduction psychological thriller miniseries created by Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher for Prime Video. Across six episodes of roughly fifty-one minutes each, Robin Wright plays Laura Sanderson, a successful woman whose polished life appears secure, with a loving husband and a devoted son, Daniel (Laurie Davidson). When Daniel brings home Cherry (Olivia Cooke), the new girlfriend unsettles the household, and Laura becomes convinced the young woman is concealing something. The engine of the story is Laura's escalating suspicion, weighed against the question of whether Cherry is a manipulative social climber or whether Laura is simply paranoid. Each episode tightens the pressure inside a comfortable home, with the family's wider circle, including Howard Sanderson (Waleed Zuaiter) and Cherry's mother Tracey Laine (Karen Henthorn), drawn into the tension. Adapted from a novel, the series is a single continuous story built around shifting points of view and deliberate doubt. Its tone is tense, glossy and claustrophobic, with a restrained unease that rewards close attention. Fans of Big Little Lies and other domestic psychological dramas will find the same blend of affluent surfaces and creeping dread.
