## Synopsis

Tougen Anki (2025-2026) is a Japanese animated dark fantasy series created for Nippon TV, adapted from a manga and produced by Studio Hibari. The story follows Shiki, a Momotaro assassin whose adoptive father is suddenly killed, and who vows revenge while discovering that his newly awakened Oni blood threatens to take over him. Voiced by Kazuki Ura as Shiki, the series also features Hiroshi Kamiya as Naito Mudano, Koutaro Nishiyama as Jin Kougasaki and Manaka Iwami as Homare Byobugaura, all part of a cast of young fighters drawn into a hidden world of youkai. The engine of the show is simple and painful: Shiki wants vengeance, but every fight forces him to confront the monstrous power inside him and the rules of the people who hunt it. Across two seasons and 48 episodes of 24 minutes each, the story builds as one continuing arc rather than standalone cases. Its shounen action is dark and bloody, with a tragic, brooding register and an emphasis on mythology and inherited identity. Set in a modern Japan shadowed by folklore, it suits fans of shounen anime who enjoy supernatural battles, and fans of Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer will find resonance in its mix of youkai lore and violent school-age combat.
