## Synopsis

Weeds (2005-2012) is an American dark comedy crime drama series created by Jenji Kohan for Showtime. Mary-Louise Parker plays Nancy Botwin, a suburban mother who, after her husband's sudden death, begins selling marijuana to keep her family afloat. Her sons Silas (Hunter Parrish) and Shane (Alexander Gould) and brother-in-law Andy (Justin Kirk) are drawn into her increasingly risky schemes, while neighbors Celia Hodes (Elizabeth Perkins) and Doug Wilson (Kevin Nealon) cross paths with her in the cul-de-sac. The engine of the show is the constant juggling act of supplying clients, dodging rivals and police, and keeping a respectable suburban front intact. Each season is built from a run of connected episodes, forming an eight-season serialized comedy with a steady arc. Set in a manicured Southern California suburb in the 2000s, the series blends sharp satire with domestic melodrama, wry humor, and a restless, morally uneasy atmosphere. Fans of Breaking Bad, Desperate Housewives and Ozark will find resonance in its mix of crime, comedy, and suburban dysfunction.
