## Synopsis

The Animals of Farthing Wood (1993-1995) is a British animated family series created by Jenny McDade for BBC One, adapted from the children's books by Colin Dann and produced across London and Montpellier. Across three seasons and thirty-nine episodes, a community of woodland creatures led by the fox and the mole faces the threat of a new human development that will destroy their home. Voiced by Rupert Farley as Fox, Jeremy Barrett as Mole, Ron Moody as Rollo and Stacey Gregg as Adder, the animals must travel through hostile countryside together, forming uneasy alliances between predator and prey while confronting hunger, rival species and the danger of human roads and machines. Each episode is built around a concrete obstacle on the journey, giving the story steady momentum without relying on cruelty. The tone is earnest and gentle yet genuinely tense, a wildlife drama with heart that fans of Watership Down and Redwall will find resonance in. Set in the English countryside, the series delivers a warm, serious meditation on loyalty, courage and belonging for younger viewers and their families.
