## Synopsis

Happy Town (2010) is an American small town mystery series created by Scott Rosenberg and André Nemec for ABC. Set in Haplin, Minnesota, a community nicknamed Happy Town, the story follows Sheriff Griffin Conroy (M.C. Gainey) and his deputies as a new crime drags the town's long-buried unsolved kidnappings back to the surface. Sam Neill plays Merritt Grieves, a figure whose presence unsettles the calm, while Amy Acker plays Rachel Conroy and Steven Weber plays John Haplin, the kind of prominent citizen whose private secrets are gradually exposed. Each of the eight episodes of this single season peels back another layer of the community, building a steady undercurrent of dread beneath the wholesome surface. The mood is uneasy and suspicious, with a melancholic atmosphere that rewards viewers who enjoy slow reveals and puzzling clues. Fans of Twin Peaks, Broadchurch and Wayward Pines will find resonance in its blend of small town unease, missing persons intrigue and the gap between a community's image and its hidden history. The series was canceled after its single season, leaving its central mystery unresolved.
