## Synopsis

In the Mud (En el barro) (2025-present) is an Argentine Netflix crime drama series created by Sebastián Ortega, a Spanish-language prison drama built around a group of women inside a ruthless penitentiary. Five female prisoners forge an unlikely bond after a deadly accident, and the series follows how that fragile alliance is tested as corruption and turf wars within the prison push them toward destruction. The principal cast includes Ana Garibaldi as Gladys Guerra, Valentina Zenere as Marina Delorsi, Rita Cortese as Cecilia Moranzón, and Lorena Vega as La Zurda, with Gerardo Romano as Sergio Antín adding a male presence to the institutional machinery around them. The engine is survival: each inmate must navigate shifting loyalties, rival factions, and the guards who profit from the chaos, while every episode turns on a fresh threat to the group. Told across two seasons of eight episodes each, the show is a serialized, continuing story where order matters. Its tone is gritty, tense and claustrophobic, with a melancholic undercurrent of loyalty under pressure. Fans of Orange Is the New Black, Vis a Vis and Oz will find resonance in its gritty women's prison setting, its serialized power struggles, and its raw portrait of institutional brutality.
