## Synopsis

Hunting a Monster (2024) is a Spanish true crime documentary limited series created by Carles Tamayo for Prime Video. Across three roughly 55-minute episodes, filmmaker Carles Tamayo, who also appears as himself, is hired by Lluís Gros, a convicted sex offender who wants a documentary to repair his public image. Carles expects a polished apology, but Gros shows no remorse and the project turns into an investigation. The engine of the series is the gap between the story Gros wants told and the record of harm he has left behind, as Carles digs into old crimes, tracks down people connected to them, and pushes against a reluctant system to pursue justice. Each episode is built from interviews, archival material, and confrontations that grow more tense as buried facts resurface. The mood is sober, angry, and intimate, with a steady focus on survivors rather than spectacle. Fans of The Staircase, The Jinx, and Surviving R. Kelly will find resonance in its documentary scrutiny of a powerful abuser and the institutions that let him go unchecked.
