## Synopsis

Rivers of Fate (2025) is a Brazilian crime thriller miniseries created by Bráulio Mantovani and Fernando Garrido for Netflix, told across four hour-long episodes. When a teen is kidnapped by a sex trafficking ring, a river pirate named Preá (Lucas Galvino) and a fierce mother named Mariangel (Marleyda Soto) each set out on a separate quest to find her. Their routes run through the waterways and jungle of the Amazon, where they must navigate criminal networks, corrupt middlemen and dangerous river territory. The engine of the story is a race against captors who move fast, with each character following different leads until their paths finally cross. Janalice (Domithila Catete) anchors the search from the girl's side. The tone is tense and gritty, with a harrowing undercurrent of exploitation and a strong sense of place. Its emotional weight comes from parental desperation and the moral compromises of those who help or hinder the hunt. Fans of Cidade de Deus, Narcos and Ozark will find resonance in its grounded crime textures and morally fraught survival.
