## Synopsis

Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos (2024) is a US documentary miniseries produced for HBO, a two-episode portrait of celebrated filmmaker David Chase. The film follows Chase himself, who appears as the central subject, alongside interviews with collaborators and cast members including Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Drea de Matteo, and Steven Van Zandt, each reflecting on the making of the groundbreaking HBO series. Rather than a conventional chronicle, the documentary moves through his life and career, examining how his personal history and creative instincts shaped the work that changed television. Its engine is the artist's own reckoning: how a writer who struggled for years found a voice that redefined the medium. Each episode runs about eighty-two minutes, giving the material room for reflection and for the recollections of those who worked beside him. Fans of Hitchcock/Truffaut and of behind-the-scenes accounts of landmark television will find resonance here. The tone is reflective, intimate, and affectionate, with a sober appreciation of craft and a warm respect for the people who made the show. Viewers drawn to television history and the cinema of artists talking about their own work will find it rewarding.
