## Synopsis

Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter (2024) is an American true crime docuseries created for Netflix and presented as a two-episode limited series. Its central figure is a tenacious mother, Cathryn Terkanian, who appears as herself and drives the investigation into the 1989 disappearance of the daughter she placed for adoption. The engine of the series is her persistent pursuit of answers: she tracks down leads, confronts the tangled facts of an old case, and tries to close a gap that has stood for decades. Each episode is built from her interviews, reconstructed scenes performed by a recreation actor, and the slow accumulation of contradictory details that keep the mystery open. Shape and scale are compact, a single story told across just two runs of roughly seventy-nine minutes each. The register is intimate and unsettling, with a grief-stricken determination that gives way to moments of dread as the case deepens. Fans of The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst and The Keepers will find resonance in its cold case investigation, its personal stakes, and its refusal to let an old disappearance stay buried. The result is a sober, emotionally raw mystery that centers on a parent's stubborn hope rather than on spectacle.
