## Synopsis

Building the Band (2025) is an American reality singing competition series for Netflix, hosted by AJ McLean. Aspiring singers including Donzell Taggart, Alison Ogden, Brianna Mazzola, Katie Roeder, Conor Smith, Jenna Davenport, Autumn Bryant, Aaliyah Larsen and Erica Padilla take part in a premise built around blind matching. Rather than auditioning in front of each other, the contestants hold one-on-one conversations and singing sessions with potential partners to discover who has the strongest vocal and personal chemistry. Only once they decide who they want to form a band with do the members finally see one another in person, and from that point they must work together to reach a strong live performance. The single season runs ten episodes of roughly fifty-three minutes each, following the slow build of trust and musical connection rather than elimination-driven drama. The tone is upbeat and curious, with an emphasis on warmth, anticipation and the surprise of first meetings. Fans of The Voice, Making the Band and American Idol will find familiar territory in its music-focused reality format, though this series sets itself apart through its unusual sound-before-sight conceit.
