## Synopsis

Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy (1959-1961) is an American animated comedy series created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for syndication. Voiced by Daws Butler as Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy by Doug Young, the father and son dog pair stage brief comic misadventures in which the eager young Augie tries to outmaneuver or please his exasperated father. The engine of each short is simple: a small domestic goal, an obstacle that escalates into physical gags, and a playful reversal before the cartoon ends. The series runs for three seasons and forty-five episodes, each only about seven minutes long, so it works as quick, easy viewing rather than an ongoing story. Its mood is light, breezy and cheerful, built on repeated chase rhythms and gentle slapstick. Fans of The Flintstones, The Quick Draw McGraw Show and Tom and Jerry will find the same classic Hanna-Barbera charm: anthropomorphic animal characters, economical limited animation and a wholesome, mildly mischievous family energy that suits young viewers and nostalgic adults alike.
