## Synopsis

Shin Chan (2006-2011) is an American adult animated comedy created by Jared Hedges, Joel Bergen and Alex Muniz, broadcast on Adult Swim and built as an English-language parody of the Japanese anime Shinchan. Its protagonist is Shin Nohara, a five-year-old boy voiced by Laura Bailey, whose constant inappropriate words and deeds unsettle everyone around him. Cynthia Cranz voices his mother Mitzi, Colleen Clinkenbeard voices his little sister Hima, and Chuck Huber voices his father Hiro, while Chris Cason voices the family dog Whitey. Across three seasons and 78 episodes of roughly 21 minutes each, the engine is simple: an ordinary errand, meal, or outing spirals into escalating absurd misadventure, with Shin pushing against adult dignity and social rules at every turn. The format is episodic, with each installment self-contained rather than a continuing storyline. The tone is irreverent, crude and deadpan, with the humor landing on the gap between a child's innocence and the adults' embarrassment. Its setting is an unremarkable suburban Japanese-style neighborhood rendered in cheerful cartoon colors. Fans of Family Guy, South Park and The Simpsons will find the same skewering of domestic life and a similar appetite for anarchic, adult-minded cartoon mischief.
