## Synopsis

Transformers: The Headmasters (1987-1988) is a Japanese animated mecha series produced by Toei Animation and Tomy for Nippon TV, a single-season run of 35 episodes that continues the story from The Return of Optimus Prime. Its heroes are the Autobot leader Fortress Maximus, voiced by Ikuya Sawaki, and the human boy Daniel Witwicky, voiced by Tomiko Suzuki, alongside Autobots Chromedome (Hideyuki Hori) and Brainstorm (Ryoichi Tanaka). The series follows robots that transform from vehicles and creatures into battle-ready forms as they fight Decepticon forces across Earth. Its engine is the constant clash between two robot factions, with the Headmaster figures and their partnered heads offering new powers in each confrontation. Each episode is built around a self-contained mission and battle sequence, with the larger arc advancing across the season. Its tone is energetic, earnest and nostalgic, with bold toy-driven spectacle and a classic super robot sensibility. Fans of the 1984 Transformers, Mazinger Z and Transformers: Robots in Disguise will find similar kinship in its loyal heroes, transforming machines and battle-driven adventure.
