## Synopsis

Tutenstein (2003-2007) is an American animated kids comedy created by Jay Stephens for Discovery Kids. Tut-ankh-en-set-amun, a vain 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy displayed in a museum, is revived by a bolt of lightning and must navigate the present day. Half zombie pharaoh and half Frankenstein's monster, he keeps his royal arrogance while stumbling through modern life. His young friend Cleo and her wisecracking talking cat Luxor help him adjust, and each episode is built around the mismatch between ancient pride and contemporary ordinary situations. The show runs for three seasons and thirty-nine episodes, a light serialized comedy where the mummy's bumbling attempts to reclaim his status generate the stories. Its tone is breezy, silly and gently comic, with slapstick energy and a fish out of water sensibility aimed squarely at children and families. Fans of The Mummy: The Animated Series and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! will find a similar blend of ancient mythology and playful supernatural adventure. The series aired in a warm, uncomplicated register that suits an easy family viewing experience.
