## Synopsis

Rise of the Raven (2025) is a Hungarian historical war miniseries created by Robert Lantos and Robert Dornhelm and broadcast on ORF 1 and TV2. Across ten hour-long episodes it follows János Hunyadi, played by L. Gellért Kádár, a man of modest birth who rises through relentless determination to lead his people against a much larger Ottoman army. Vivien Rujder plays Elizabeth Szilagyi, and Murathan Muslu plays Sultan Murad II, whose ambitions drive the opposing side of the conflict. The engine of the story is a commander with few resources forced to turn scarce troops, shifting alliances and fragile court politics into a plan that can stop an invasion threatening Western Europe. Each episode builds toward large-scale battlefield confrontations, tense councils and uneasy negotiations among rival nobles. The series is a single continuous story told as one limited run rather than separate cases. Set in fifteenth century Hungary, it carries the grand, sweeping register of a historical epic, with a mood of grit, sacrifice and national stakes. Fans of The Last Kingdom, Vikings and The Borgias will find resonance in its medieval power struggles and its portrait of a hero who changed the course of a continent.
