## Synopsis

Maigret (2025-present) is an American-produced detective series created by Georges Simenon for PBS, adapted from the novel-based Maigret stories. Jules Maigret, played by Benjamin Wainwright, is a rising star in the Police Judiciaire, relentless in his investigations and gifted at getting under the skin of the criminals he chases. Alongside him, Louise Maigret, played by Stefanie Martini, and fellow detectives including Torrence, portrayed by Blake Harrison, and Lapointe, portrayed by Reda Elazouar, help him unravel murders across the city. Each episode is built around a self-contained investigation in which a suspect's motives and secrets are slowly peeled back through interviews, street-level legwork and quiet observation. The series is a two-season run of twelve episodes in total, following a case-of-the-week structure with a continuing cast. Its atmosphere is measured and melancholic, with a strong sense of place drawn from Paris and its inhabitants. Fans of Engrenages, Columbo and Wallander will find resonance in its patient, character-driven approach to crime and its focus on the human motives behind violence. The mood is contemplative and intimate, rewarding viewers who enjoy close attention to people rather than spectacle.
