## Synopsis

Jonathan Creek (1997-2014) is a British BBC One mystery comedy-drama created by David Renwick. Alan Davies plays Jonathan Creek, a magician who works from a converted windmill and turns his understanding of illusion into a talent for solving impossible crimes and baffling murders. Caroline Quentin plays journalist Maddy Magellan, whose investigative work frequently draws Creek into the cases he is asked to unravel. The engine of the series is the puzzle itself: each standalone episode presents a seemingly impossible death or disappearance, and Creek must spot the mechanical or magical trick hiding in plain sight. Supporting characters such as Julia Sawalha's Carla Borrego and Stuart Milligan's Adam Klaus appear across the run. Across five seasons and 26 feature-length episodes, the show offers a case-of-the-week format with a recurring cast and an overarching warmth between its leads. Its tone is cozy and witty, with a mischievous, deadpan humor and a light touch of macabre atmosphere. Fans of Murder, She Wrote, Father Brown and Poirot will find resonance in its gentle whodunit pleasures and clever, fair-play clue structure.
