## Synopsis

La Pícara Soñadora (1991) is a Mexican telenovela created by Abel Santacruz for Las Estrellas, a Televisa production adapted from a 1956 Argentine film of the same name. Mariana Levy plays Lupita López, a spirited young woman from modest circumstances whose path crosses with the Rochild family, where Eduardo Palomo plays Alfredo Rochild and Carlos Pérez, a figure whose dual identity drives the romance. Rafael Inclán as Camilo López and Irán Eory as Marcelina Ruvalcaba vda. de Rochild add family pressure and rivalry, while Laura Flores and Gabriela Goldsmith bring the Rochild household's competing loyalties to the screen. The engine of the story is a heroine's wish for love and a better life colliding with class barriers, mistaken identities and family feuds. Told across 80 hourlong episodes in a single serialized run, it unfolds as a classic telenovela of daily dramatic turns, emotional confrontations and cliffhanger reversals. Set in contemporary Mexico City, it is a warm, sentimental melodrama that foregrounds young love, hope and social aspiration. Its tone is earnest, romantic and heartfelt. Fans of Betty la Fea, Maria la del Barrio and Marimar will find resonance in its Televisa-style heroine, family secrets and sweeping love story.
