## Synopsis

The Crocodile Hunter (1997-2004) is an Australian nature documentary series created by John Stainton and Steve Irwin for Animal Planet. Presenter Steve Irwin, alongside his wife Terri Irwin and daughter Bindi Irwin, runs a wildlife refuge and takes the camera into the field to capture, relocate and educate viewers about crocodiles, venomous snakes and other animals many people fear. Each episode is built around a concrete outing, where Steve tracks a creature, gets close enough to handle it, and explains its behavior in plain, enthusiastic language. The show runs five seasons across sixty-nine episodes, presented as a case-of-the-week format rather than a continuing story. Its tone is energetic, warm and openly playful, with a sincere belief that no animal is too threatening to respect. Fans of Planet Earth II, Meerkat Manor and Dolphin Reef will find a similar blend of wildlife education and charismatic presenting. The result is a family-friendly nature series with a strong personal identity, rooted in Australian landscapes and the Irwin family's conservation work.
