## Synopsis

The Lowdown (2025-present) is a US dark comedy crime drama series created by Sterlin Harjo for FX. Ethan Hawke stars as Lee Raybon, a self-proclaimed citizen journalist in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who calls himself a truthstorian and whose relentless obsession with uncovering the truth keeps dragging him into trouble. Keith David plays Marty, and Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson and Tracy Letts round out a cast of local characters caught up in his investigations. The engine of the show is simple and reckless: Raybon digs into lies that powerful and petty people would rather keep buried, and every episode tends to escalate from a nosy question into a dangerous confrontation. Told across a two-season run of sixteen episodes, the series balances gritty violence and drug-tinged underworld dealings with gallows humor and shaggy, character-driven digressions. Its neo-western atmosphere, with dusty Oklahoma streets, cowboy iconography and small-town grudges, gives the stories a frontier edge. The tone is wry, scruffy and morally grey, with a rough warmth beneath the cynicism. Fans of Fargo, Justified and Better Call Saul will find resonance in its offbeat crime, eccentric heroes and wry view of American hustle.
