## Synopsis

Spice Up Our Love (2024) is a South Korean romance fantasy miniseries created by Kim Hye-young for TVING, a tvN-style web-adapted k-drama in two episodes of roughly 51 minutes each. The R-rated web novel author Nam Ja-yeon (Han Ji-hyeon), a self-described forever-alone writer, finds herself magically swapped with the heroine of her own romance story, Seo Yeon-seo. Her romantic counterpart is the male lead Kang Ha-jun, played by Lee Sang-yi, and the story also follows the company president archetype and the rival figures around him, including Kim Yong-myung as Director Oh and Park Jeong-woo as Kim Do-gyeom. The engine of the show is Ja-yeon's struggle to navigate a romance she invented, using her knowledge of the plot to steer events while the characters around her behave as her written tropes demand. Each episode plays out as a brisk stretch of flirtation, misunderstanding and workplace tension inside a corporate setting. The tone is playful and breezy, with flashes of wistful sincerity about loneliness and self-acceptance. Its alternate reality concept is light and genre-driven rather than dense. Fans of Crash Landing on You, My Lovely Girl and Lovestruck in the City will find resonance in its blend of romance, comedy and fantasy.
