## Synopsis

Twin Peaks (1990-2017) is an American cult mystery series created by Mark Frost and David Lynch for ABC and Showtime. Kyle MacLachlan plays FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, an eccentric investigator who arrives in the quiet Washington town of Twin Peaks to look into the death of a high school homecoming queen found washed up on a beach. Around him, Michael Ontkean as Sheriff Harry S. Truman, Sherilyn Fenn as the restless Audrey Horne, and Lara Flynn Boyle as Donna Hayward populate a community of secrets, affairs, and hidden business dealings. The engine of the show is the slow unraveling of the murder, which pulls the investigation into the surrounding forest and into a dreamlike parallel realm. Across three seasons the tone shifts between soap opera sincerity, deadpan comedy, and creeping dread, with surrealism and eerie atmosphere pushing the narrative into strange territory. Its unusual structure and mix of genres make it a challenging, layered experience. Fans of The X-Files, Lost, and Northern Exposure will find resonance in its small town mystery and surreal atmosphere.
