## Synopsis

Lynley (2025) is a British-set crime series created by Steve Thompson for BritBox, adapted from the novel series by Elizabeth George. Aristocratic detective Thomas Lynley (Leo Suter) leads a murder investigation alongside Barbara Havers (Sofia Barclay), a working-class sergeant whose instincts run against his polished intellect. Their unlikely partnership is the engine of each case, as the pair must navigate a police hierarchy led by DCI Brian Nies (Daniel Mays) while DC Tony Bekele (Michael Workéyè) supports the squad. The show unfolds across four feature-length episodes of roughly ninety minutes each, with each case moving through interviews, class-tinged confrontations, and slowly tightening evidence. The tone is grave and atmospheric, with a melancholic weight running through the crimes and a sharp contrast between privilege and hardship. Its mood recalls the British procedurals of Inspector Lewis and Midsomer Murders, while its dark, character-driven investigations carry the emotional seriousness of Happy Valley. Viewers who enjoy a murder mystery built on partnership, social friction, and patient detective work will find it rewarding.
