## Synopsis

This Monster Wants to Eat Me (2025) is a Japanese animated romance series produced by Studio Lings and based on a manga, broadcast on AT-X. Hinako, a woman who lives alone by the sea and has been drifting since losing her family, is rescued from a monster by Shiori, a mermaid who announces she has come to devour her, though not yet. Shiori stays close to keep her safe, and their daily life together becomes the engine of the story, with the quiet ritual of companionship slowly reshaping Hinako's grief. Voiced by Reina Ueda as Hinako and Yui Ishikawa as Shiori, the thirteen-episode season moves at a gentle pace through small moments and tender exchanges. Miko Yashiro, voiced by Fairouz Ai, adds a further presence to the cast. The tone is wistful and intimate, blending tender romance with an uneasy undercurrent of predation and longing. Set in a coastal Japanese seaside town, the series is a single-season limited anime with a bittersweet emotional register. Fans of Monster Musume and the gentle yuri romance of Kiss x Sis will find resonance in its blend of supernatural intimacy and quiet melancholy.
